Wrestling Sendings Record Number To State

East Jackson High School has qualified the most wrestlers in school history for the traditional state finals meet after a record setting day in the sectional meet. The Eagles will send 11 wrestlers to the state meet.

Ten male Eagles and 1 female will represent East Jackson in the finals meet. Paul Jenkins (285 pounds) punched his ticket with first-place finish, while Avery Smith (132 pounds), Kole Smith (150 pounds) and Chase Wingfield (165 pounds) finished in second place. Mason Smith (120 pounds) finished in third place at the sectional meet, while Isaac Robbins (113 pounds), Ryan Lampe (138 pounds) and JZ Lester (175 pounds) finished in fourth. Charlie Wheeler (106 pounds) and Evan Reed (157 pounds) finished in sixth place to earn a berth in the state final meet, while Seanna McCarthy (105 pounds) finished in sixth place to earn the lone female finals berth for the Eagles.
