White Named Region 8-AA Coach of the Year, Volleyball Finishes Region Runner-up

East Jackson volleyball coach Mary White was named the Region 8-AA Coach of the Year Saturday during the region tournament held at Hebron Christian Academy. White, in her first year at the helm of the EJHS program, has guided the Eagles to a 24-14 record that included a Region 8 championship match appearance.

While the Eagles fell 3-0 in the championship match against Hebron, they enter the Class AA state playoffs with a lot of momentum and confidence. Private schools will play a separate playoff bracket in Classes A-AAA, meaning East Jackson will only compete against public schools in the Class AA bracket. East Jackson was undefeated in regular season play against public schools from Class AA.

East Jackson's Karly Petty and Logan Beck were named First Team All-Region. Beck finished the region-portion of the Eagles' schedule with 105 kills, 38 digs and 15 aces (373 kills, 193 digs all season), while Petty finished with 22 aces, 169 assists and 39 digs in region play (76 aces, 614 assists, 200 digs all season). Gavin Guest and Emily Lampe were named Second Team All-Region, after Guest finished with a 91 percent serve receive receptions and 56 digs and Lampe finished with 53 kills and 12 blocks. Emilou Moore and Claire Yarbrough were named Honorable Mention.
