Following Day 1 of the Region 8-AA Track and Field Championships at East Jackson Comprehensive High School, 12 EJCHS student-athletes have qualified for the Class AA State Sectional event, which will be held on May 4.
Hannah Kent set a new school-record in the girls' Discus with a distance of 111-feet, four inches. Branturan Callahan finished second in the High Jump, Kayden Ledford fourth in Discuss, Ryleigh Nunn third in Shot Put, Paul Jenkins second in Discus, Jacob Collins Third in Discuss, Peri Farmer third in High Jump and the 4x800-meter boys relay team of Hayden Hodges, Collin Ramsey, Michael Kelleher and Griffin McDaniel finished third.
