Track & Field Hosts Home Meet; 13 Finish In Top Three Of Events
The East Jackson High School track and field teams hosted a home meet on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles finished second in the team scores and the boys finished third. Thirteen Eagles finished in the top three of their individual events on the night.
Javon Huff won first place in the boys' 200-meter dash with a time of 23.85. Hayden Hodges edged teammate Colin Ramsey in the boys' 1600-meter run with a time of 5:12.41. Ramsey finished with a time of 5:16.58. Jacob Hertzog finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.01. In the field events, Branturan Callahan finished in first place in the boys' high jump finals with a mark of six feet.
In the girls' events, Norah Nichols, a freshman, finished in first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:49.45. The 4X800-relay team finished in first place with a time of 14:06.52.
In the field, senior Hannah Kent finished in second place in the girls' discus with a distance of 98 feet, six inches, while sophomore Ryleigh Nunn finished second in the shot put with a distance of 33 feet, five-and-a-half inches.
