Myers Named Co-Coach of the Year, Garner Player of the Year
On the heels of the most successful baseball season in school-history, East Jackson was well represented in the All-Region 8-AA team announcement on Friday. Head coach Scott Myers was named the Co-Coach of the Year and senior Payton Garner was named the region's Player of the Year.
Myers led the Eagles to the school's first-ever winning regular season and a third-place finish, earning just the second state playoff appearance ever for the Eagles. Garner was tabbed the best player in the region after hitting .417 with eight home runs, 11 doubles, 25 runs batted in and boasting a .537 on-base percentage this season.
Walker Mauldin, (.304 batting average), Ty Bennett (.362 average, 22 runs scored), Bryse Patterson (.272 average, 7 doubles), Drew Richardson (.274 average, 21 stolen bases), Nicholas Carpenter (.338 average, 12 RBI), Hanseong Kang (1.35 earned run average, 42 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched), and Aiden Holley (2.37 earned run average, 54 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched) all garnered all-region honors.
