The East Jackson girls soccer team has advanced to the Sweet 16 in the Class AA state playoffs for the first-time in school history, defeating top-seeded Callaway 6-0 on Thursday night. Georgia Hooper, Tallulah Williams and Melanie Tidwell each finished the night with two goals for the Lady Eagles.
East Jackson will visit Mount Paran Christian Thursday in the second round. Mount Paran also posted a shutout in the first round of the state playoffs and is the No. 1 seed from Region 6.
