The East Jackson girls basketball team opened the season under new coach Aric Mawdesley with a 43-35 win over Johnson High School Tuesday night. The Eagles were led in scoring by Emilou Moore and Zariah Gillespie, both of whom finished with 13 points.
Moore hauled in nine rebounds, while Gillespie finished with eight rebounds and five assists.
The Eagles visit Apalachee Saturday and host Monroe Area on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
