Football Trounces Dawson County, 37-10
For the second consecutive week, the East Jackson Eagles held an opponent to less than 230 yards of offense en route to a second straight victory Friday night. The Eagles raced out to a commanding lead and never looked back, defeating Dawson County 37-10.
The Eagles (2-1) visit White County (0-2) Friday night.
Defensively, East Jackson limited Dawson County to just 96 yards rushing and 129 yards passing, while forcing multiple turnovers on the night. Aaron Blackman finished with a team-high seven tackles, two sacks, three pressures and one fumble recovery, while also forcing a safety. Chase Wingfield finished with six tackles. Kole Smith finished with four tackles and Ryan Lampe finished with three tackles and one interception.
Offensively, the Eagles racked up 424 yards on 46 plays, racking up 278 yards on the ground. The Eagles secured 13 first downs and went 4-for-9 on third down. Junior quarterback Drew Richardson led the way with 177 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Branturan Callahan finished with 70 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown run.
Richardson also went 11 of 18 through the air with two touchdowns, including one to Brady Saunders (7 catches, 91 yards). Callahan also hauled in a 38-yard touchdown pass.
