East Jackson To Remain In Region 8-AA for 2024-26
East Jackson Comprehensive High School will remain in Region 8-AA for the upcoming 2024-26 cycle in the Georgia High School Association.
The regions were announced following lateral region transfers on Thursday, Nov. 16.
While the Eagles will remain in Region 8, they will have all new competition inside the region following the reclassification process which saw the GHSA remove the state's current highest classification, Class AAAAAAA, beginning in August of 2024. East Jackson will be joined in Region 8-AA by Franklin County, Hart County, Stephens County and private schools Hebron Christian Academy and Prince Avenue Christian.
As part of the GHSA reclassification process, private schools that compete in Class A through AAA will hold their own state playoffs for all sports. Public schools will earn playoff berths based off power rankings. More information on the power rankings will be announced at a later date by the GHSA.
The new regions will take effect in August 2024.
