Eagles Qualify for State Track and Field Championships

East Jackson is sending 15 student-athletes to the Class AA State Track and Field Championships, which will be held inside Eagle Stadium at East Jackson beginning Thursday through Saturday.
Braxton Goolsby finished fifth in the sectionals in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.96, while also helping the 200-meter relay team of Omarion Tuggle, Kevion Fortson and Aaronn Blackmon finish in third place. The 800-meter relay team of Griffin McDaniel, Hayden Hodges, Michael Kelleher and Colin Ramsey finished fourth in the sectional event.
Alivia Weaver qualified in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Jacob Hertzog qualified in the 300-meter hurdles on the boys' side. Hodges qualified for state in the boys' 800-meter run, placing second in the event with a time of 2:00.99 seconds.
In field events, Marissa Mullins qualified in Pole Vault, while Branturan Callahan qualified in the High Jump. Three athletes — Hannah Kent, Jacob Collins and Paul Jenkins — qualified in the Discus.
