Eagles Named All-Region Players of the Year

A pair of East Jackson athletes have been named the Region 8-AA Players of the Year, following a vote by the region's head coaches. Lady Eagles goalkeeper Piper Pennington was named the Region 8 Keeper of the Year, while Ivan Castro was named the Boys Region 8 Player of the Year.
Pennington helped the Eagles earn a Class AA state playoff berth and a first-round shutout win over Callaway. The playoff victory was the first in the girls program history.
Castro was a left-wing midfielder for the varsity boys team, scoring four goals and recording 14 assists as the captain. The boys claimed the Region 8 championship for the first-time in school history this season.
