Eagles Blank Leopards, Improve to 6-0

HOMER — East Jackson remained undefeated Friday night with a monster 41-0 victory over rival Banks County.

In the first region game of the season, the Eagles (6-0, 1-0 Region 8-AA) took control of the game early, building a 20-0 halftime lead, and never turned back.

East Jackson visits Fellowship Christian Academy in Roswell on Friday.

Quarterback Drew Richardson started the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown pass to sophomore Brady Saunders, who finished the game with a team-best five catches.

Richardson finished the game 13 of 16 for 195 yards with his touchdown. He also ran for 67 yards and two scores.

Quay Hill led the Eagles with 123 yards rushing on a team-best 24 carries. Jazeil Lester had 53 yards rushing on six carries with two rushing touchdowns.

Defensively, the Eagles posted a shutout against a Banks County team that entered the game averaging 29 points per game this season.

While posting a shutout, the East Jackson defense contributed to the scoring Friday night, when Javon Huff intercepted a Leopards pass and ran into the end zone for the game's final score of the night. Huff has returned an intercepted pass for a score in back-to-back weeks.
