David White Inducted Into East Jackson Athletic Hall of Fame

David White was inducted into the East Jackson Athletic Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Jan. 30. White, a Roswell native, began his teaching career at Benton Elementary School in 1979. He coached girls and boys basketball and started the first organized youth football program for grades six through eight in Jackson County. White later moved on to Jackson County Middle School and East Jackson Middle School where he continued to coach girls, boys basketball and football. 

"Coach White has coached many players in Jackson County and has been a longtime supporter of the students he has taught and coached over a span of 40 plus years. In the classroom, he was dedicated to helping students and teaching them the fundamentals and importance of physical education. After retiring, Coach White continued to work with the East Jackson High School football team and mentor through Lindsey's Legacy Mentoring. He continues to be a supporter of East Jackson and the very special people who are East Jackson. He will also be an Eagle," the school announced during the induction ceremony. 

During his time at Benton, White recorded a 43-8-3 football record, winning a championship seven seasons and finishing runner-up three times. He recorded an 83-41 record and claimed four consecutive championships in boys basketball and a 74-52 record in girls basketball, winning one championship and finishing runner-up seven times. 

At Jackson County Middle School, White recorded a 21-9-3 football record during the span of 1990-95. White moved to East Jackson Middle School in 1996, the year the building opened. He recorded a 47-33 football record and led the team to an undefeated 7-0 record and Quad Co Champions in 2007. 

For his career, White finished with a 112-50-6 coaching record in football, 74-52 in girls basketball and 93-55 in boys basketball. He also served as the Athletic Activities Director for 19 years.
