Cross Country Teams Sweep Region 8 Championships

cross country teams win Region 8-AA championships

The cross country teams at East Jackson High School swept the Region 8 championships Saturday, with the boys finishing second in the GHSA Class AA Sectionals and the girls finishing third. Both will compete in the State Championships on Saturday in Carrollton. The boys are the reigning Class AA champions and will enter as one of the favorites to defend their title. 

In the sectionals, the boys finished with an average of just seconds slower than Columbus High School with all five of their top runners finishing inside the top 22 on the day. Cade Brown finished fifth overall (17:01.40), while Michael Kelleher (17:18.00) and Colin Ramsey (17:20.90) finished ninth and 10th respectively. Landon Brown finished 12th with a time of 17:24.60, and Logan Korb finished 22nd at 18:10.50.

​On the girls side, Addisyn Odom finished 10th overall with a time of 22:11.56, while Brooklyn Lee finished 14th at 22:42.80. Courtney Cameron finished 19th (23:18.44), Abby Worley finished 25th (24:07.18), and Piper Pennington 30th (24:26.12).
