The East Jackson boys wrestling team finished second overall in the Region 8-AA Traditional Meet on Saturday. The top four wrestlers in each weight class earned an invitation to the State Sectional Meet later this month.
Three Eagles — Avery Smith (132 pounds), Kole Smith (150 pounds) and Paul Jenkins (285 pounds) — each finished in first place in their respective weight classes. Charlie Wheeler (106 pounds), Isaac Robbins (113 pounds), Mason Smith (120 pounds), Ryan Lampe (138 pounds), Evan Reed (157 pounds), Jay-Z Lester (175 pounds) each finished in second place. Chase Wingfield (165 pounds), Jackson Eager (190 pounds), Michael Seagraves (215 pounds) each finished in third place, while Robert Hollett (126 pounds) finished in fourth place.
On the girls' side, Seanna McCarthy (105 pounds) finished in third place during the area traditional meet held at Stephens County on Friday.
