Boys Cross Country Wins State Title, Girls Finish Fourth
The East Jackson boys cross country team claimed the Class AA state championship on Saturday in Carrollton, with the top five runners finishing inside the top 22 of the meet. The state championship is the school's first in the sport since 2016.
East Jackson dominated the meet, securing 55 points, a 37-point win over second place KIPP Atlanta Collegiate.
Hayden Hodges finished second in the meet with a time of 17:32.83, while Cade Brown finished eighth with a time of 18:14.38. Colin Ramsey finished 11th (18:38.05), Michael Kelleher placed 17th (18:48.54) and Griffin McDaniel 22nd with a time of 19:03.08.
The East Jackson girls finished fourth in the state, with Courtney Cameron placing 15th overall with a time of 23:24.61. Vada Hanna finished 25th (25:36.19), Norah Nichols 37th (25:53.37), Piper Pennington 50th (26:20.59) and Tallulah Williams 55th with a time of 26:48.00.
