Boys Basketball Starts Season with 83-55 Win
The East Jackson varsity boys basketball team earned its first win of the season, coming in a 83-55 dismantling of Johnson in the season opener. East Jackson also hosted West Hall on Tuesday.
In the win over Johnson, the Eagles raced out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead and a 46-20 lead at halftime. As a team, The Eagles shot 43 percent from the floor and 29 percent from 3-point range. Defensively, the Eagles recorded 16 steals against Johnson while hauling in 44 rebounds.
Individually, Qua Watson led the Eagles with a double-double that included 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Charles “Birdy” Cunningham had 17 points, five assists and four rebounds. Lucas Smith finished with 14 points against Johnson.
