The East Jackson boys basketball team earned a key region victory Friday night by defeating Union County 80-79 in overtime. The Eagles (8-8) earned their first region win of the season. Union County entered the game with a region-best 14-2 record.
Brody Carruth and Lucas Smith led the team with 18 points in the win, while Birdy Cunningham finished with 15 points.
The Eagles host Athens Academy on Jan. 17 and visit Banks County on Friday, Jan. 19.
