East Jackson scored six runs in the sixth inning, which helped the Eagles defeat Apalachee 9-3 on Monday. The Eagles are now 6-3 on the season.
Hanseong Kang singled, scoring one run, Brooks Saunders singled, scoring one run, Brady Saunders drew a walk, scoring one run, Jayden Nunez drew a walk, scoring one run, Bryse Patterson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Walker Mauldin hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run to produce the key sixth inning for the Eagles and breaking a tied 3-3 ball game.
East Jackson finished the night with nine hits with Saunders, Nunez and Patterson each recording two hits to lead the team.
East Jackson got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Reed Cassidy hit a sacrifice fly, and Drew Richardson singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Apalachee tied the game in the top of the fourth and took the lead in the fifth, only for Patterson to single to center field to knot the game even in the bottom of the fifth.
Warren Hilley earned the win for East Jackson. The starter allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking four. Weston Mitchell pitched two innings of shutout ball for East Jackson in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
