Baseball Walks Off With 5-4 Win Over Hebron
Just one night after suffering a loss to Region 8-AA opponent Hebron, the East Jackson baseball team responded with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory on Wednesday night when Nick Carpenter delivered a game-winning single.
East Jackson (9-5) concludes its series against Hebron with a road contest on Friday in Dacula.
The Eagles finished Wednesday's game with 11 hits and no errors, after just two hits and four errors in Game 1 of the series. East Jackson was in control with a 4-1 lead through the first six innings before Hebron tied the game even at 4-4 in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom half of the ninth inning, East Jackson broke free when Carpenter singled to score the winning run.
Jayden Nunez homered on the night for the Eagles, going 2-for-4 at the plate, while it was Carpenter who led the team with a 3-f0r-5 performance at the plate. Drew Richardson also recorded a pair of hits.
On the hill, Brooks Saunders earned the win, pitching both extra innings without allowing a run and striking out three.
