Baseball Improves to 8-3, Beats Madison County

Reed Cassidy delivered a dominant pitching performance, striking out 13 batters, and the East Jackson varsity baseball team beat Madison County 5-2 in non-region action Wednesday night. The Eagles are now 8-3 with a non-region matchup at West Hall on Friday night. Region play begins Monday at Hebron.

Cassidy threw a complete game in Wednesday's win, walking just one batter and allowing just two earned runs on five hits. Cassidy's run support came in the top of the sixth inning, with the Eagles trailing 2-0, when East Jackson scored four runs and then added another insurance run in the top of the seventh.

East Jackson got onto the board in the sixth when Drew Richardson drew a bases loaded walk to score Jonathan Wilson. Hanseong Kang singled in the next at-bat to score Warren Hilley, followed by a single by Brooks Saunders to score Nick Carpenter and Richardson.

East Jackson finished the night with nine hits, with Reed Cassidy and Carpenter leading the way with two hits each on the night. Saunders led the team with two runs batted in during the sixth inning.
