Baseball Closes Regular Season With Win, Awaits Playoff Seeding

East Jackson trailed by as many as four, but came back to top Hart County on Friday, 12-9, closing out the regular season. The Eagles will not await the seeding from the Georgia High School Association's Class AA state baseball playoffs. 

Reed Cassidy collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Cassidy hit a solo home run to center field in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

After Hart County led 5-2 in the top of the second inning, East Jackson went back into the lead in the fourth inning after Cassidy homered to center field, Brooks Saunders singled up the middle, Bryse Patterson singled to center field, and Nick Carpenter was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Saunders earned the win for East Jackson. The hurler surrendered nine hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none.

East Jackson amassed 15 hits in the game. Drew Richardson and Cassidy were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Eagles while hitting back-to-back. Brady Saunders led East Jackson with four runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Walker Mauldin and Patterson each collected multiple hits. Richardson and Patterson each stole multiple bases.
