Baseball Clinches State Playoff Berth
For the second time in school history, the East Jackson baseball team is headed to the state playoffs. The Eagles punched their ticket to the Class AA tournament with a 4-3 win over Union County on Friday night. The Eagles followed up their win with a 4-2 win to conclude the doubleheader and finished the three-games series against Union with a sweep following a 7-5 win on Monday night.
East Jackson currently sits in third place in Region 8-AA with a 13-11 overall record and a 7-5 mark in region play. The Eagles play Providence Christian Academy (14-10, 9-3) in a three-game series this week. The teams will meet for one game at East Jackson on Tuesday and a doubleheader at Providence on Thursday. A sweep of the series will earn the Eagles the No. 2 seed out of the region, earning a home playoff series in the process. The worst the Eagles can finish is fourth in the region, earning an away series in the playoffs.
