Ten more East Jackson track and field athletes are heading to the sectional meet, following Day 2 of the Region 8-AA meet on Wednesday at East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

The Eagles had 12 athletes qualify following Monday's Day 1. On Wednesday, East Jackson saw three school records get broken, as well. Braxton Goolsby set a new record in the 100-meter event, finishing fourth overall and qualifying for sectionals. Goolsby also set a new record in the 200-meter event after finishing third, and assisted the boys' 4x200-meter team in breaking a new record en route to a first-place finish. Goolsby was joined on the team by Omarion Tuggle, Aaronn Blackman and Keyvion Fortson.

Michael Kelleher and Hayden Hodges, both of whom qualified for sectionals in the 4X800-meter event on Monday, took part in the boys' 4x400-meter relay team that consisted of Jacob Hertzog and Blackmon. Hertzog also qualified in the boys' 300-meter hurdles with a third-place region finish.

The girls team of Emma Grenier, Alivia Weaver, Vayda Hanna and Norah Nichols finished fourth in the region and qualified for sectionals in the 4x400 relay. Weaver also qualified for sectionals after a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles and a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
