Track and Field Claims Third At Commerce

The East Jackson track and field teams claimed third place at Commerce High School Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles finished with 56 points and the boys with 73.
Braxton Goolsby finished in second place in the 100-meter dash, and first in the 200-meter dash. Goolsby edged Jackson County's Jacob Coombs and teammate Keyvion Fortson in the event. Hayden Hodges finished in first place in the 800-meter run, while teammates Colin Ramsey, Michael Kelleher and Griffin McDaniel finished third through fifth, respectively.
Steven Jacob Hertzog finished in first place in the boys' 300-meter hurdles. In field events, Branturan Callahan finished in first place in the boys' high jump with a distance of 6-feet, 2 inches, while teammate Michael Kelleher finished second in the Long Jump. Jacob Collins finished in third in the Discus and Shot Put.
On the girls' side, Alivia Weaver finished in second place in the 300-meter hurdles, while Jariah Thomas and Peri Farmer finished second and third, respectively, in the High Jump. Marissa Mullins finished in second in the Pole Vault, while Hannah Kent and Kayden Ledford finished first and second in the Discus. Ryleigh Nunn finished in second in the Shot Put.
