Girls Tennis Advances to Sweet 16

The East Jackson girls tennis team earned a first round upset Wednesday, beating the top-seed from Region 5-AA, Elite Scholars Academy, 3-2. The Lady Eagles will face Mount Paran Christian next week in the Sweet 16 round, the lady Eagles' first-ever appearance. Kynzie Curtin won her singles match on Wednesday by a score of 6-1, 6-2. She was followed up by both doubles teams coming out victorious to earn the win for East Jackson. The duo of Cambell Pettus and Emma Murphy won in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Emma Kesley and Claire Yarbrough also won in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
