The East Jackson boys basketball team earned a Class AA state playoff berth following a 61-53 win over rival Banks County in the Region 8 play in game on Friday night. The Eagles will visit Union County in the region tournament semifinals on Wednesday.
Birdy Cunningham led the Eagles in scoring against Banks County with 14 points, while Qua Watson had 13 and Brody Carruth with 11 points. Lucas Smith finished with nine points. Aarron Blackman set the tone on the inside for the Eagles, finishing with a double-double featuring 10 points and 11 rebounds.
